Day -1
Gurukul 2024 is an intensive teacher training program designed to equip our teachers with cutting-edge strategies to deliver teaching in a way that helps students excel in their fields. It has been scheduled from July 9th to July 12th, 2024, at Vikash Residential School, Bhubaneswar. The program focuses on individual attention, allowing teachers to cater to each child’s needs and foster a positive learning atmosphere. The Gurukul Training program at Vikash Residential School, Bhubaneswar, began with an inspiring session by Dr. G. Subramanian, who emphasized the importance of being an inspiring teacher. He shared practical strategies for fostering a positive learning environment, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing creativity in students. Dr. Subramanian’s session provided teachers with motivational insights and actionable techniques to enhance their teaching methodologies.
The second session, led by Amit Bansal, introduced teachers to the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. He demonstrated how Al can transform the classroom through personalized learning and automation. Bansal provided practical demonstrations and resources, guiding teachers on integrating Al to boost student engagement and learning outcomes. This session was crucial for preparing teachers to leverage technology in education.
Day -2
The second day of the Gurukul 2024 training program for CBSE teachers was a perfect combination of academic sessions and outbound activities. This combination was to help improve the teachers’ professional competence and at the same time develop teamwork, tenacity and personal development through physical activities. The day started with the subject specific training workshops. Teachers were clustered based on their teaching areas of interest, thus enabling them to receive professional development that is pertinent to their practice. These sessions were intended to provide educators with new approaches to teaching, current information on curricula, and proper means of evaluation. With the NEP Session by Suchi Sharma After lunch, the teachers engaged in a series of outbound activities that focused on team work, communication and self esteem. These activities were quite demanding yet fun, which helped to create a sense of unity and enthusiasm among the participants. The teachers crossed Burma Bridge which is a rope bridge that is built several feet above the ground to challenge the balance and concentration of the participants as well as to foster support among the participants. The Commando Net involved them to climb a net structure, which helped to develop their physical strength and coordination, as well as patience and problem solving skills. In the Caterpillar Walk, participants had to coordinate their movements while being connected by a large fabric tube, so that everyone could complete the course successfully.
Day -3
The third day of the Gurukul 2024 training program for teachers was productive and entertaining at the same time. The day commenced with intensive subject-based workshops during which experienced teachers introduced new approaches to teaching and learning materials and resources for different subject areas such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Languages. These sessions were intended to improve the teaching techniques and equip the teachers with new ways of handling students. One of the most notable sessions of the day was the one on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by Suchi Sharma. Her presentation focused on the NEP’s goal of a comprehensive approach that is centered on the learner, use of technology in learning, and vocational training as a way of encouraging teachers to embrace change. During the afternoon, teachers engaged themselves in a creative drama activity meant to enhance their creative abilities as well as team work. They engaged in group work to perform dramas with various topics ranging from classroom activities to fictional stories to demonstrate the effectiveness of drama and role play in enhancing student learning. This diverse day offered teachers a combination of effective strategies, policy updates, and ideas to implement in the classroom and to engage students.
Day -4
During the fourth and the last day of the Gurukul Training Program, the participants focused on the specific training according to the fields of their choice including science, mathematics, humanities, and physical education. These were conducted by expert trainers who provided detailed information on the more complex aspects and real-life uses, so that participants got more than just information, but also solutions. The sessions were very participative with activities, group discussions and feedback which made the learning process.
In the afternoon session, a function to pay a tribute to the resource persons who contributed a lot towards the success of the program was organized. The ceremony started with the welcome speech of the program coordinator, in which she outlined the results of the training and spoke warm words of appreciation to all the participants and trainers. The
resource persons were then called on the stage to be honored by the dignitaries present for their knowledge and hard work.
After the presentations, there was a photo session where the resource persons and the dignitaries took pictures. This session not only provided the end of the training program but also embraced teamwork and dedication to the education field. The day ended with a positive note of the
contribution that participants would be able to make in their respective fields after being a part of the Gurukul Training Program.
